Dual Citizen Brewing Company, St Paul, MN is seeking an Assistant Brewer to join our team! We are a 4-year-old community-focused brewery with inspired, modern takes on classically styled beers. All with a focus on celebrating community roots and developing local pride. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, recipe development, and all things beer.
The Assistant Brewer will help the Head Brewer in operating all aspects of our 10-barrel brewing system. In addition, the Assistant Brewer is responsible for cellar tasks, pre-and post-cleaning, and sanitation of all transfer lines and vessels. The Assistant Brewer will work shifts of varying lengths. Brew days may consist of shifts up to exceeding eight hours while packaging and cellaring. The Assistant Brewer is expected to be punctual, self-motivated, and contribute within a teamwork environment.
Daily Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
-Work closely with the Head Brewer to achieve desired quality and production targets
-Follow all safety procedures
-Keep accurate inventory and quality management of raw materials and chemicals
-Maintain and upkeep boiler
-Periodic handling of hazardous chemicals
-Responsible for cellar tasks including, but not limited to, beer transfers, tank CIPs, various fermentation additions, line cleaning, keg washing, maintenance of parts and hoses.
-Assist with packaging, which will include working the canning line, filling kegs, and preparing packaged beer for shipment.
-Keep accurate daily production records per company and Federal Requirements
-Continually maintain all beer production areas including equipment (mill room, brewhouse, fermentation, bulk grain and grain storage area, as well as the cellar)
-Attend production meetings and contribute to product improvement
-Represent Dual Citizen
-Assist taproom staff as needed (help moving kegs, maintenance & repairs, etc…
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contact:
-Involves frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 55lbs routinely, occasional lifting to 170lbs
-Ability to work in loud, wet, hot, and cold environments
-Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in somewhat uncomfortable settings (including crouching behind and underneath tanks)
-Regular contact with brewery employees and management, as well as periodic, but consistent customer interaction
Job Qualifications Knowledge and Skills
-General knowledge of practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in production and pub-style brewing
-General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with brewery work.
Ability to multitask while monitoring various brewing and production processes
-Experience operating a forklift is a must,
-Ability to diagnose and solve problems quickly and efficiently-
-Exhibits excellent cleaning and sanitation practices
-Demonstrate excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications :
-Experience operating and maintaining a canning line is a plus, training is available
-High attention to detail
-Mechanically inclined a plus
Education and Experience:
-One to Three years of brewing experience as an assistant brewer or brewer.
-High school diploma
-Must be 21+ years of age
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Packaging experience preferred (kegging & canning line)
-Formal brewing education
